The Fifth Gear story begins with two industry-leading providers whose wealth of expertise were consolidated to create the single source for direct retail growth that is now Fifth Gear. Our rich history, long-term industry expertise, stable foundation, and combined leadership have resulted in Fifth Gear’s innovative approach to serving its retail clients’ operational needs in today’s multi-channel marketing environment.
A History of Strength
Stark Bro’s Fulfillment Services had been an industry leading provider of outsourced warehousing, order fulfillment, and contact center services since 1982, beginning as a subsidiary of Stark Bro’s Nurseries more than a century and a half before. Acquired in 1994 by Foster & Gallagher, a $400 million catalog marketer with more than 20 catalogs, Stark Bro’s acted as the company’s operations and fulfillment provider, as well as that of other independent catalog companies. In 2007, Stark Bro’s came under new ownership within the Sigma Holdings family of companies, operating closely with its long-time industry partner, Sigma Micro.
Sigma Micro had served direct retailers for nearly 30 years with industry-leading order management software. Their technology solutions have been trusted by some of the nation’s most successful retailers for operations and ecommerce management. Sigma Micro has created robust, multi-channel commerce solutions that manage every function of a direct-to-consumer retail.
